Developing effective plans to restore natural ecosystem processes and biodiversity at a landscape scale requires overcoming significant challenges. These can include bringing together diverse stakeholders to build consensus behind a shared vision, addressing complex patterns of land tenure, exploring the opportunities for long-term funding and generating the scientific evidence needed to inform policy change.

Planning Grants are designed to support the early stages of this process, helping organisations and partnerships across Europe to develop ambitious restoration plans through a combination of activities. Funding may be used to build partnerships, establish biodiversity baselines, develop maps, prepare landscape-scale restoration strategies, or draft proposals for larger-scale funding.

You can explore examples of previously funded Planning Grants on our website. From forests that are drying out in Białowieża to learning from the past to inform the future in Kazakhstan, there are many opportunities across Europe to restore functioning ecosystems that benefit both nature and people while contributing to climate resilience.

Find out more and apply on the ELSP funding page.

If you intend to apply and/or attend the webinar please first review the guidance document to confirm your eligibility.
