Background

Herman is an aquatic ecologist and entrepreneur with 25 years of experience in fish migration and water management. Herman is recognized for starting “World Fish Migration Day”, co-authoring 3 international books, organizing international conferences and developing action networks. Herman founded World Fish Migration Foundation and the Dam Removal Europe movement to remove dams and protect fish populations in free-flowing rivers worldwide. They identify obsolete dams, advocate for removal and catalyze funding to get it going, and then publicize the results to generate momentum.
