Background
Makafui is a research associate at the University of Cambridge, Department of Geography. He has a background in agricultural and development economics. He has extensively worked with actors along the agri-food supply chain in Sub-Saharan Africa, researching farm productivity, food and nutrition security, household food safety attitudes and behaviour and time allocation decisions. His current research focuses on agroforestry as a conservation and sustainable livelihood strategy among cocoa farmers in West Africa and understanding smallholders’ livelihood choices and their attitudes and practices towards conservation and biodiversity protection.
