It’s not easy to get out and enjoy nature at the moment, but the current restrictions do give us opportunities to pay more attention to what’s on our doorstep. Even if you don’t have a garden, or live in a very urban area, there will be plenty to see. Some of our partners have produced some great resources to help you help wildlife; keep the children busy; or just to identify what you see. Over the coming weeks we’ll be highlighting some of these but we’ll start this week with details of some of the bird-related activities you might try.

Even if you don’t have a garden, keep an eye on the sky. A Buckinghamshire bird watcher caught this amazing image of a young sea eagle from his balcony!

Finally from RSPB, if you have been a keen wildlife photographer, and have time on your hands to search your image collection, Puffarazi want to hear from you! Whilst most of us can’t visit a puffin colony at the moment, the project are also looking for historical pictures of puffins with food so that they can compare with more images.
The British Trust for Ornithology run a year-round garden bird survey- now is an ideal time to start! You can find all the details here. BTO have lots of other citizen science projects which you may be interested in; some require some birding knowledge but there are projects for beginners too. Take a look at their website for details of all their projects.
