In order to raise awareness of the needs and contributions of indigenous peoples, every 9 August commemorates the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples.
Here are some wonderful examples of CCI partner projects that have been carried out in partnership with indigenous groups and communities in Ecuador, Paraguay and Canada.

AMWAE/TRAFFIC partnership – a unique partnership between the Waorani, an indigenous group from the Yasuní Biosphere Reserve in Ecuadorian Amazon ; TRAFFIC; and BIOS, a prestigious Ecuadorian chocolate company.
Birdlife Partner Guyra Paraguay and the work they have done around shade-grown yerba mate to protect Paraguay’s forests. This project is part of Birdlife’s Forest Landscape Sustainability Accelerator initiative.

BirdLife Partner Nature Canada and their collaborations with First Nations peoples, including Cree communities to save Canadian shorebirds.
