Job vacancy – Endangered Landscapes Programme Manager – Cambridge Conservation Initiative (Fixed-term)

The Cambridge Conservation Initiative (CCI) is a unique collaboration between the University of Cambridge and leading biodiversity conservation organisations in and around Cambridge. The CCI partners together combine and integrate research, education, policy and practice to create innovative solutions for society and to foster conservation learning and leadership. 

The primary role of the CCI Endangered Landscapes Programme Manager will be to direct and manage the successful creation and delivery of a $30 million Endangered Landscapes Programme across Europe by working with CCI partners and other organisations to implement large-scale, multi-million pound on-the-ground landscape restoration projects and a suite of broader enabling activities. The post holder will lead the strategic direction, governance, development, management and promotion of the Endangered Landscapes Programme. The post holder will also foster and catalyse the development and implementation of a broader global CCI programme of landscape restoration across CCI by working with partners, potential collaborators and potential donors. This role will be responsible for creating a pan-European network of people engaged in landscape restoration and collaborating with CCI.

Educated to Master’s degree level standard in a natural science subject, you will ideally also hold a post-graduate qualification in natural resource management, environmental sciences, conservation biology or similar. You will have excellent knowledge of the international biodiversity conservation sector, including landscape restoration initiatives globally, regionally and/or in Europe, and ideally a working knowledge of other European languages. You will have extensive experience in establishing and managing funding mechanisms as well as in directing, managing and monitoring large-scale international projects and programmes involving multiple stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be highly organised and efficient, with good attention to detail, and excellent project management, writing and editing skills. Previous experience of directing, designing and implementing project evaluation mechanisms is a prerequisite of this role.

This is a fixed-term position and the funds for this post are available for 5 years in the first instance.
