CCI Chief Executive Director Melissa Leach will chair an expert group of panellists who will analyse what is – and what should be – part of the current government’s agendas and commitments related to nature and biodiversity.
How has nature fared over the course of these first 100 days of the new government?
How are the values associated with nature and ecosystems being framed, amidst current uncertainties of economy and security?
Which policies and actions have been prioritised and pursued – and which have not?
How are synergies and tensions between biodiversity, climate and people’s health, wellbeing and living costs being addressed?
What opportunities and challenges are brought by the government’s focus on decentralisation and localisation?
The panel and discussion will share reflections on these questions and more, and consider how these early signals might play out over the longer term – both in relation to the future of nature in the UK, and for the UK’s contributions on the global stage.
