Climate & Development in the “Age of Adaptation” – Dr. Adil Najam, Professor at Boston University & President – WWF International

10th October 2024

CCI warmly invites you to a Conservation Lecture by Dr. Adil Najam, Professor at Boston University & President – WWF International

Dr Najam, the Dean Emeritus at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, is calling for less talk and more action on climate change.

He will talk about living and leading in the Age of Adaptation, and present his argument which discusses that the evidence of climate impacts is overpowering, it need not lead to despair but should bring forth a new sense of urgency and action that can, if harnessed, become a transformational force for environmental justice and developmental redesign. The talk will also do a deep dive into what he refers to as the golden rule, which is ‘Don’t mess with nature’.

“It is good that the world is finally talking so much about Climate Change, but talk must not become a substitute for action,” he said.

The talk, organised by the Cambridge Conservation Initiative together with UNEP-WCMC and the University of Cambridge Conservation Leadership Alumni Network (UCCLAN) and and will start at 4pm, with a Q&A session until 5.30pm.

Location: David Attenborough Building

Date: October 10, 4-5.30pm
