21st January 2021
We are delighted to share the news that the poet, Matt Howard has been awarded a Special Commendation for Best First Collection from The Laurel Prize.
Matt is currently in ‘remote’ residence at Cambridge Conservation Initiative, as part of the Arts, Science and Conservation Programme’s Artist-in-Residence series. Matt was awarded the Commendation for his work Gall, a poetry collection summarised by Mark Cocker as ‘urbane, witty, deeply contemporary and profound’. The Laurel Prize is an award for the best collection of environmental, ecopoetry or nature poetry.
Matt’s residency is exploring poets and poems, both contemporary and from the past, that engage with nature and place. You can find out more here and all about The Laurel Prize and the other winners here.
