Since reading Natural Sciences at Cambridge and Environmental Technology at Imperial College, Will Simonson has lived and worked for a total of 12 years in south Portugal for the conservation charity A Rocha, applying field-based research to the conservation of threatened habitats and wildlife. With 4 years working for Natural England, his experience also encompasses statutory sector nature conservation. Will has recently completed a PhD project combining remote sensing with field data to study plant species composition and diversity of cork oak woodlands in Portugal and Spain. His current position in the Forest Ecology and Conservation group involves research into the relationships between tree diversity and productivity in European forests. He is Deputy Chair of the Cambridge Conservation Forum.
