I am one of three Communications Officers at Fauna & Flora International. My primary responsibilities are press relations, researching and writing news stories, and overseeing the production of our printed publications, but I also help to develop blogs and other web content, and share news via our social media channels (Facebook, Twitter etc).
I have long been fascinated with the challenge of balancing human needs and environmental protection, and whilst at the University of York (where I studied BSc Environment, Economics and Ecology), I developed a keen interest in marine conservation. This interest led me to conduct an opinion survey into public attitudes towards Marine Protected Areas for my dissertation and also took me to Andros Island, Bahamas, where I spent a summer conducting coral reef ecological surveys (it’s a tough job…). Since graduating, I have held a variety of communications roles, including in the private sector where I worked as the European PR Manager and Communications Specialist for a leading technology firm.
