Role: BTO

Background

I have been with the BTO for over 9 years, and in April will become Acting Head of Science in BTO Scotland. I am responsible for developing and undertaking research projects in Scotland, and am leading research in areas involving raptors, breeding waders, woodland birds and monitoring. My areas of experience include (a) using extensive survey data to show how numbers and productivity vary over space and time; (b) analysing ecological data and carrying out reviews to inform and advise managers and policy-makers; and (c) encouraging collaboration between different sectors to improve monitoring and conservation management of birds. I represent BTO in several multi-organisational collaborations including the Scottish Raptor Monitoring Scheme, Working for Waders and the Volunteer Mountain Hare survey.
