I lead the COMBO Project (COnservation, impact Mitigation and Biodiversity Offsets in Africa) for the Wildlife Conservation Society. This project is helping four countries to reconcile economic development and conservation of biodiversity and ecosystem services. We are building the capacity of the Governments of Guinea, Uganda, Mozambique and Madagascar and other stakeholders to implement the mitigation hierarchy to reduce impacts on biodiversity. This includes supporting improvements to policy and regulations; identifying and testing methodology for better planning and mitigation; building systems for improved design and financing of offsets; and developing lessons learnt outputs and providing training.
Working for WCS, I have managed large protected areas in Republic of Congo and Cambodia and ran our Central African marine programme. I worked for The Biodiversity Consultancy advising various extractive industry projects. I have also provided guidance on lender standards, including to IFC, World Bank, AIIB and others.
