Role: Project lead

Hannah is a Senior Programme Officer in the Marine Programme at UNEP-WCMC, working on the strategic, scientific and technical development of regional and global marine projects, particularly focussed upon Marine Protected Areas, marine spatial planning, marine assessment and policy support. She is interested in multidisciplinary approaches to systematic conservation planning, the process of stakeholder engagement and consensus-building, trade-offs between conservation and resource use, and the role of decision support tools in delivering effective marine planning.  Hannah was previously the Marine Protected Areas Planner for the Marine Conservation Zone Project in southeast England (‘Balanced Seas’), working with stakeholders to assess biodiversity and human activities in the English Channel and undertaking data and decision support analysis to identify suitable areas for MCZs, several of which have been recently designated.  Prior to that, Hannah spent several years in protected area management and biodiversity assessment in the Republic of Congo, Madagascar and South Africa.
