Background

Liz was a Programme Officer within the UNEP-WCMC Species Programme, with a background in ecology and biodiversity conservation. She has four years experience of supporting species-related MEAs, including successful management and production of numerous reviews and analyses relating to international wildlife trade for the European Commission and CITES. Other recent projects include evaluating the effectiveness of CMS instruments on terrestrial mammals and marine turtles, development of biodiversity criteria for the selection of climate projects and investigating the mechanisms underpinning climate change impacts on species. Liz previously spent two years radio-tracking mandrills in the rainforests of Gabon for her PhD; she also holds an MSc in Biodiversity and Conservation and recently completed UNITAR e-learning courses in International Environmental Law.
