Background

Paul heads up the RSPB’s economics and education policy division.  A key focus of the teams’ work is on using economic arguments to illustrate the benefits people gain from nature, and communicating these to policy makers to ensure that they are as informed as possible about the wide-ranging payoffs of conservation.  We have been actively involved with ecosystem service work through collaborative research, including the NEA, and through practical applications involving land management strategies.  Before joining the RSPB, Paul worked as an economist in the South Pacific, Asia and Africa.
