Background

Ciara is a Programme Officer in UNEP-WCMC’s Species Team, where she is responsible for delivering projects that help the implementation of some of the world’s largest international agreements, including CITES and CMS. She has a degree in Zoology from the University of Edinburgh, a Masters in Biodiversity and Conservation from Trinity College Dublin, and a PhD from the University of Manchester, where she studied large-scale patterns of bushmeat hunting in South America as well as how to better build local knowledge and attitudes into conservation plans. For this CCI project, Ciara will provide input into trade analyses that are underpinned by CITES trade data, as well as expertise on trade issues related to CITES species.
