I coordinate the global marine policy work at BirdLife International. My work involves engaging in global and regional policy processes to advocate for the protection of marine biodiversity, addressing threats and drivers of biodiversity loss. I also work with BirdLife national Partners across the globe to support their policy efforts. Our policy and advocacy work is underpinned by science and therefore I work closely with my colleagues of the marine science team. Processes I am currently engaged with include the Convention on Biological Diversity and the United Nations negotiations for a new treaty for the protection of biodiversity in the high seas. My areas of expertise are protected areas, wetlands and marine conservation and policy. I have worked for the Brazilian Ministry of the Environment and for UNESCO in Brazil before joining BirdLife 8 years ago.
