Bruce Liggitt

Senior International Casework Officer

Role: CCI collaborative projects, Project team member

I was born in Zimbabwe and grew up in Africa. I studied agriculture at the University of Natal then joined the Institute of Natural Resources working on projects ranging from the ecology of small forest antelope and alien invasive plants to organic agriculture.  Later I set up a sustainable agriculture project in Zambia and implemented a social management plan for a copper mine.

After completing an MSc. in Environment and Development at the University of East Anglia, I joined Fauna & Flora International in 2005 as Africa Programme Co-ordinator. I was gatekeeper for the International Gorilla Conservation Programme and supported conservation projects across Africa. I moved to the RSPB in October 2014 as International Casework Officer where I support BirdLife partners protect Key Biodiversity Areas from threats of damaging development. I also mentor partners in policy and advocacy and engage in social and environmental safeguards.
