I work in 4CMR in the Department of Land Economy on bioenergy issues related to climate change policies, land use and forests. Previously I managed research projects and IP applications in the development of novel biotechnologies and contributed to communications materials and public engagement for SMEs, firstly in the UK in the sustainable production of biofuel from waste plant material by novel organisms, and then in animal genetics and nutrition in the dairy industry in New Zealand.
My PhD was on improving the production of ethanol as a biofuel from lignocellulosic material using GM organisms; this was partly funded by a spin-off company from Imperial College, where I also started my involvement in public engagement of science focussing on GM and energy generation.
