Amy Milam

Programme Officer

I am a Programme Officer for the Protected Areas Programme at the UNEP World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC) where I work within the team managing the content of the World Database on Protected Areas (WDPA). I hold a Masters in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing from the University of Cambridge and have an undergraduate degree in Geography from the University of South Alabama.

My academic and professional careers have closely followed my personal interest in nature conservation and am building on 10 years of experience in environmental science, GIS and remote sensing; including positions held with the Alabama Department of Conservation, US Fish and Wildlife Service and NASA’s DEVELOP Programme.

Within my current role at UNEP-WCMC I am helping to improve protected areas information management and analyses on protected areas at national, regional and international scales.
