Tom Clements

Senior Director – Europe, Wildlife Conservation Society

Dr. Tom Clements has designed and led teams to implement large-scale wildlife conservation and development programmes for over 18 years, in Southeast Asia, Brazil and Africa, most recently as WCS’s Regional Director for Southeast Asia. In this role, he engaged substantially with Southeast Asian governments on species, forest and marine conservation and policy initiatives. During 2006-2012, he established market-linked conservation incentive programmes that now provide >5,000 people with substantial conditional cash payments subject to them meeting wildlife conservation targets, whilst alleviating local poverty. In 2017, Tom returned to the UK to take up a new role as WCS’s Senior Europe Director, leading WCS’s strategic engagement with partners in the UK and Europe.
