Secretary General, Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD)

I am Secretary General of the Environment Agency-Abu Dhabi (EAD), the agency responsible for environmental regulation, conservation and the promotion of sustainable development in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

I serve as a board member of many of Abu Dhabi’s interconnected environmental influencers and stakeholders and am also an active member of many committees. I founded Emirates Wildlife Society in association with WWF (EWS WWF) in 2001 and am currently the Managing Director. During my leadership, EWS-WWF have undertaken the most comprehensive coral reef mapping in the Arabian Gulf, pioneered research and conservation efforts to protect the critically endangered Hawksbill Turtles and created the Wadi Warayah protected area.

I am the Managing Director of the Mohamed Bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund – one of the world’s largest foundations supporting species conservation in over 200 countries. I am on the board of directors for Panthera - a charity devoted to conserving 40 species of big cats and their habitats around the world, and the African Wildlife Foundation.

As a keen supporter of the arts, cultural preservation and development; I am a founding member of the Board of Advisors to the Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation. I am married with an infant daughter, and I take every opportunity to enjoy the natural heritage of the world with my family.
