Previously, I was Head of the Department of BioSciences at the University of Melbourne, Australia. I work on expert judgement, environmental modelling and risk analysis. I have written models for settings ranging from managing environmental impacts on threatened species to landscape planning. I received a BSc from the University of New South Wales (1977), an MSc from Macquarie University, Sydney (1981), and a PhD from the State University of New York at Stonybrook (1987). I worked as a consultant research scientist in Australia, the United States and Switzerland during the 1980’s before joining the University of Melbourne in 1990. I joined CEP in February, 2017. I have published over two hundred and fifty refereed papers and book chapters and seven authored books. I was elected to the Australian Academy of Science in 2006.
