Corli Pretorius

Deputy Director, UN Environment World Conservation Monitoring Centre

I have 20-years work experience in the fields of environmental management, agriculture and sustainable development. My career includes 15 years at the international level in multilateral and multi-stakeholder contexts. In 2010, I joined UN Environment as part of the Executive Office team in Nairobi. This provided for several years of intense involvement in multilateral governance, inter-agency affairs and the managerial aspects of the organisation. Subsequently, I focused on UN system policy coherence on environmental issues at the UN headquarters in New York.

At the UN Environment World Conservation Monitoring Centre, I am responsible for developing initiatives; liaison with partners and constituencies, including governments and key donor partners; and for providing programmatic support.

I have qualifications in town and regional planning, agricultural and rural development, and in agricultural economics. I grew up in South Africa and have lived in Belgium, Switzerland, Kenya and the United States of America, before moving to Cambridge.
