Ash Simkins

IBA/KBA Technical Officer, BirdLife International

I joined BirdLife International in September 2018 after having undertaken my masters research project with BirdLife (which investigated the implications for conservation of BirdLife’s major taxonomic review of the world’s birds) and having previously volunteered with BirdLife and the RSPB. My research interests include threatened species, site-based conservation networks, global analyses, applying ecological knowledge to solve conservation problems and identifying priority species and sites for conservation. In my current role, I provide scientific and technical support to BirdLife’s science, including work related to site-based conservation (including IBAs and KBAs), remote sensing, global indicators and other large-scale analyses.
